October is a great time to get ready for the New Year. It’s the lull before the Holiday Season. If you procrastinate now, it will be impossible to start strong in January.
Here are 12 Strategic Questions to help you gear up for the New Year. Use them to think through your willingness and readiness to start the year powerfully.
12 Strategic Questions For The New Year
1. Where are you now?
Take an honest inventory of where you are today compared to where you want to be? What is your current reality? Be honest. The first step to any journey is determining where you are now.
2. What does success look like to you? Where do you want to be? By when?
If where you are today is your point A, where is point B? What is your destination? Where do you want to be one year from now? Three years from now? Having a vivid Vision is important. Take a few minutes to write out a paragraph of what you want the future to look like.
3. How willing are you to do what it takes?
This question focuses on your willingness. Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without sacrifice. Are you willing to pay the price of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice to achieve your dream?
4. How ready are you to get started today?
The question focuses on your readiness. Working through these questions is a way to get started. Ask yourself, If not now, when? Are you ready to do the work to get the results you want?
5. What have you done already?
Perhaps you have already laid the foundation for your success. Take inventory of what’s been accomplished already. Celebrate what’s already done. Actions may not have been as focused as needed, but you’ve done something. What is it?
6. What is the first step you need to take?
Often times the first step is just to gather more information. Think hard about this question because the first step is often the most important step. Make sure it’s in the right direction. Share your idea with others. Ask for validation. Ask, Am I on the right track?
7. What next? What else?
After you are clear about the first step ask these strategic questions. What next? What else? Keep asking until your plan begins to take shape. Leave no stone unturned. What are the milestones you will need to hit?
8. What potential obstacles might you face?
Now is the time to anticipate obstacles and setbacks? Don’t think everything is going to work out perfectly. Plan for setbacks. How will you learn and adjust? What can you avoid with good pre-planning? How will you deal with the unexpected?
9. How will you maintain momentum?
The journey to success is usually uphill. It will be tiring. It will require lots of blood, sweat, and tears. Not that it won’t be exhilarating and fun. It will. But realize that momentum must be maintained. How will you do that? How will you re-charge when necessary?
10. Who can help you?
Strong leaders aren’t afraid to ask for help. Why reinvent the wheel? Who has achieved a similar goal? Who do you admire? Who can you ask for help?
11. How will you hold yourself accountable?
There is only one person responsible for your success or failure. Look in the mirror. Come up with a plan for how you will hold yourself accountable. Don’t expect anyone else to hold you accountable indian viagra line. You must learn to do this yourself.
12. What do you need to do everyday?
Come up with your own list of the 3-6 disciplines you must execute every work day. What are the habits of success that you must master? Post these in a place so that you can see them every workday. Consider creating a scorecard to measure your execution of these disciplines.
