Dan Forbes Executive Coach, Austin, Texas
I have over 30 years of experience in professional communications, teaching, coaching, and training.
I help you think differently, act powerfully, and focus intentionally to accelerate your success and become amazing.
Please don’t get hung up on the title “Executive Coach”. What I do is help people solve problems and seize opportunities.
You already have in your mind a picture of what an Executive Coach does. Please erase that picture and instead let’s have a conversation about how you can go from good to Great. Whether you think of me as a Coach, Advisor, or Consultant is irrelevant.
At the age of 15 I felt a calling to serve others and help make a difference in the world. That calling led me into a 20 year career as a Minister/Pastor/Counselor. I achieved a Master of Divinity degree (M. Div.) with a Minor in Counseling from Luther Rice Seminary and a graduate degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
During those two decades I helped churches and congregations grow. One church was a new work which began in the living room of a home and grew into a 10 acre campus of buildings. I ministered to my flock with care and compassion putting my minor in Counseling to good use. I coached staff members and lay people.
While serving others I neglected my own marriage which culminated in divorce. This experience led to the end of my pastoral career and taught me many personal lessons. After all, it’s the struggles of life from which we learn the most.
Next, I built a real estate brokerage business. I discovered that most people were stressed about moving and making such a major decision. Some were motivated by career growth, starting a new business, divorce, illness, retirement, job change, or a growing family. I spent a lot of time counseling and coaching my clients through the change they encountered.
I employed coaches to help me grow my business and create a better life. Working with three coaches over a period of 13 years helped me realize the value of having an experienced coach at your side. The result was being in the top 1% of Realtors nationwide and the Small Business of Year award winner.
During this time I also coached high performing Realtors® to grow their business and achieve their personal goals.
Then I experienced another massive change as a result of the real estate crash in 2007. My business collapsed as the Florida market came to a screeching halt. I felt emotionally devastated as I sought my next opportunity. It was a stressful time because I had no idea what I would do next. Maybe you’ve been there.
Fortunately, I was tapped by Merrill Lynch, where I served as a team leader and Financial Advisor for six years. I recruited, grew, and coached a high performing team of Financial Advisors and support staff. It was a rewarding, growth experience which allowed me to use and sharpen my coaching skills.
I guess I’ve always been a coach. I came to the realization that coaching was the ONE thing that was most rewarding for me and the ONE thing I did that helped others the most.
This passion led me to start my own business, Lead With Giants LLC, in 2012. Today, I spend my time coaching individuals who are good, very good, but who want to become great.
I love working with people who are successful and want to become AMAZING.
For exercise, fun, and recharging I hike along the hills, canyons, and rivers around Austin, TX. Central Texas is a hikers dream with scores of scenic trails. Once a year, while it’s hot in Texas, I like to visit the Rocky Mountains to enjoy hiking in the cool, crisp weather of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
